THE AGONY OF STRESS
You know when you are stressed out.  And you know it doesn't feel very good. 

The agony of Stress

You might feel physical symptoms such as excessive sweating; a racing, pounding heart; dizziness, and shaking.  Emotionally you might feel irritable, on edge, fearful, and out of control.  You might have a lack of concentration.  You might even feel like you are leaving your body, which can be terrifying. 

Often stress is exacerbated by a lack of self-confidence, of not feeling good enough.  If you don't believe in yourself or your abilities, those perceptions create fear, and the fear magnifies the pressures in your life.

THE PERILS OF FIGHT/FLIGHT
Take a break from StressLearning to eliminate stress works on two levels. The first is learning how to relax your body.  When your body is stressed, it triggers the sympathetic nervous system. Pain hormones are produced.  Oxygen is diverted to organs and muscles that are necessary to fight or flee and diverted away from organs that aren't being used for that immediate purpose. Your body is designed to be in this state of fight/flight only a very short amount of time, about 5 percent of the time.  And then it wants to switch over to the parasympathetic nervous system, a state of balance and well-being. 

When your body stays in fight/flight too long, like weeks or months or years, those organs and systems that have been deprived of oxygen begin to suffer and deteriorate. The stress and pain hormones create discomfort in your muscles and tissues.  This is why stress is such a contributor to disease.

DEEP RELAXATION IS MORE THAN JUST FEELING GOOD -BUT WHO'S COMPLAINING? Learning to relax your body is a prime factor in the anti-stress program.  When your body is relaxed, your immune system functions more effectively to fight off disease.  The organs and cells are oxygenated and work efficiently. Your body can more easily implement its own natural blueprint for health because different, beneficial chemicals and hormones are produced during relaxation than are produced during stress.

Deep Relaxation and Stress Relief

allow you to achieve deep, theta brainwave levels of relaxation quickly and easily.  In this profound state of relaxation, your body can heal itself six to ten times faster than in its regular, waking state.  A 30- to 40-minute session of deep-relaxation hypnosis can be more effective than a three- to four-hour nap at rejuvenating both your body and your mind.  The effects of this profound relaxation can last many days after the session.

If you perceive yourself in a negative way or if you perceive your situation in a negative way, it creates a state of overwhelm and confusion.  It makes it difficult to fTransform Your Thoughtseel calm and peaceful in the present.  If you expect something painful to occur in the future, such as criticism or failure, you will experience a future-oriented fear, which is called worry. If you don't feel safe in the present, that can generate a feeling of fear or anxiety.
